Public DNS Options and Possible Issues with Level 3 DNS

I am see some random complains with Level 3 DNS. I don’t know if this is a temporary problem or chronic to being overloaded. As a Level 3 customer we have an open support ticket but have not gotten a satisfactory answer from Level 3 engineers. I am recommending changing your routers, PCs to use Neustar’s DNS at:free-recursive-dns

156.154.70.1
156.154.71.1

An alternative would be use Dyn DNS which has become very popular over the past year

216.146.35.35
216.146.36.36

I would NEVER recommend using AT&T, Charter, Comcast, or TW Cable’s DNS as they are very slow, time-out and have very long TTL times. You will find other Free public DNS servers and reviews at http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm I also do not recommend using Google’s DNS as the filter your content and they know enought about you already.

Level 3 to Buy TW Telecom for $5.7 Billion

The deal values TW Telecom at $40.86 a share, a 12% premium to Friday’s close. Shareholders would receive $10 in cash and 0.7 share of Level 3 for each share of TW Telecom.

TW Telecom shares rose in early trading to approach the offer price.

Level 3 Chief Executive Jeff Storey pointed to TW Telecom’s extensive local operations, which he said would complement Level 3’s global assets. Level 3, an operator of Internet networks that help companies send videos or other content more quickly, has network and data centers in more than 60 countries, along with global subsea networks.
